  • Getting Crafty with Gear Storage - Apartment Style

Being a “minimalist” can mean a couple things, especially when it comes to organizing your home. Some minimalists cut down on unnecessary commodities in lieu of some extra space, but still have thousands of dollars in outdoor gear shacked up in some closet bursting at the seams. If that sounds like you - you’re not alone.

With summer in full swing, there’s no better time to get out on the water than right now. With your Folding Boat Co. K-Pak, you don’t have to worry about rack mounts - just fold them up and toss them in the trunk. The more you can fit in your car, the more friends and family out on the water. But where to first? • FISHING FOR SALMON WITH A K-PAK PORTABLE KAYAK

One of the coolest things about fishing is there are many different types of fish to catch, and most all require their own individual tackle and technique if you are going to be successful at catching them. This is why I love my K-Pak folding Kayak. I can pull my boat out of the trunk of my car and be fishing a local farm pond in just a few minutes. If I have travel plans, I’ll just check the K-Pak (with a four piece paddle, my PFD, and tackle inside the backpack) on most any airplane trip. I’ve used my boat to fish in remote places from all over Alaska to Norway and many places in between.
  • 13 INSPIRATIONAL PADDLING QUOTES

There is no comparison to those glorious paddling days, and the days spent living in the ‘real world’. You know the world where you have a job, run errands and pay the bills. Getting out on the water brings a certain amount of solitude and allows the soul to heal. With fresh air and an ever-changing landscape, the waterways call to us! If you can’t be out on water 24/7 – like most of us – we complied some fun quotes to keep you motivated throughout the slumpish days. Slumpish? Yea that describes it.
  • KAYAK CAMPING GEAR LIST

It's time for another kayak camping trip into the backcountry, and so it's also time for a new list of things to bring. I have packing lists for every type of camping: car, backpack, day-pack, bicycle, kayak, small airplane, and even for bareboating in various environments from Alaska to the Bahamas. Each list is adjusted for where we are going , what we’ll be doing, and how long we’ll be there. Here are a few things I take into account when planning what to pack:

  • FORAGING BY KAYAK

I started reading voraciously in the 5th grade. Once a month in grade school we were allowed to fill out a book order form with our No. 2 pencils and then wait most impatiently for the new books to arrive a few weeks later. Some of my favorite books are from that era. “My Side of the Mountain”, by Jean Craighead George, is one of them. It’s a story about Sam who escapes to the woods from the big city and learns how to live off the land with his pet Peregrine Falcon – Frightful! A perfect, children’s fantasy book with a happy ending, but it inspired me to learn woodsman-ship and outdoor survival skills. In fact, my Grandfather had a beautiful farm in the Catskills which is where I imagined Sam’s adventures took place and where many of mine started.
  • DUCK HUNTING AND THE K-PAK

Here in Central North Carolina we can paddle mostly year round. Winter weather is usually above freezing in the day time and the lakes and rivers are normally ice free. We also have lots of rivers and streams with adjacent swamp lands that make for good duck hunting, whether with gun or camera.
  • 5 KAYAK CAMPING TIPS

Let’s face it. What’s better than kayaking? If you live by the water, have easy access to the river, or own a packable, portable K-Pak, you may head out on a weekly basis. Just like every sport, kayaking has some drawbacks if you are just getting started. A few of these include knowing the class of the river and which sections to look out for, and having a put-in and drop-off point with the adequate transportation to bring you back home. Spending a few days on the river can make this effort worth it and you can enjoy the extra miles in the kayak. Fall is a great time to get out on the river and enjoy some camping along the way. We put together some tips for your next kayaking camp trip. Scroll through some of these suggestions and enjoy even more time on the water!
  • 5 MUST SEE FISHING SPOTS WORLDWIDE

It’s no surprise we’re all avid fishermen at the Folding Boat Company. In fact, our love for fishing was one of the reasons we were inspired to design and make our lightweight, foldable kayak, the K-Pak! Always on the lookout for the next adventure, here’s 10 must-fish spots around the globe.
